This mixed media print is based on a recent photograph of a Desert or Arizon Ash in Kernville, CA, from my friend Luke.

Having gotten used to printing stretches of water recently for this commission, and my new Coves, I found tackling this one less tricky. It was also a nice challenge working in different blocks down through the composition.

The tricky bit was the tree – albeit very enjoyable & playful masking it out in ‘negative’ with masking fluid, and it seems apt for a tree on its last legs.

There was then a final flourish for this magnificent sentinel, adding the two corvids sitting on its branches [see if you can spot them!]
