‘Kernville II’, monoprint, acrylic & ink, 35x30cm

£150.00

One-off monoprint — only one available

This is based on a photo of what is either a White Willow or an American Elm in Kernville, CA, from my old friend Luke.

I’ve never really done any large stretches of water before, so the 3 prints that I’ve made from this 1 shot have proved something of a challenge with Gelliplates, but thinner inks, a trusty spatula, rubber seam roller & plenty of gloss medium have been useful.

The main tree itself was a case of persistence and repetition, employing a hand-cut stencil for the trunk & larger branches, combined with masking fluid.
Removing the masking fluid when the ink is still slightly damp also allows for some handy mark-making with a dry brush
