This is from the ongoing Series of over 300 Monoprints called the Tree Portraits, and originates from a photo of one of many dead trees on Wanstead Flats.
London’s Pollarded Street Trees (predominantly Lime & Plane, chosen for their resilience to pollution) became something of a multi-valent representation of so many things we do/don’t know about ecology to me, & nature’s real place in our world.
These latter prints of the series have moved away from the street trees of London, as my research further informed the project, & my interest in the wider ecology.
