‘Fanal Laurel’, monoprint and chalk pencil, 50x70cm
£400.00
This was my fourth attempt at an ancient Laurel of the Fanal Forest on Madeira.
This one is where I was still trying to get a better feel for its abilities as a one-hit wonder by layering on the gelliplate.
There were some minor issues on the pull, but I think I used this to my advantage in the end!
I think there is also a nice balance with the pencil embellishments, which is definitely something to fall back on when there are similar drying-out issues with the pick-up layer.
Many thanks to Jon Ranger Photography for the original image.
