Gelliplate Monoprint on Daley Rowney Heavyweight Cartridge 220 gsm, 30cm x 35cm. This was sold as a reward on my 2025 ‘Help Build The Print Shed!’ Crowdfunder.
The Trees in Gallants Bower, opposite my Studio in Dartmouth, are part of my recent study group for The Tree Portraits series.
This is home to a number of Oak, Beech, Hornbeam & Ash Trees.
My Monoprints from this time were also further influenced by ‘The Hidden Life of Trees’ by Peter Wohlleben, ‘The Uninhabitable Earth’ by David Wallace-Wells, ‘Gaia’ by James Lovelock,
& Merlin Sheldrakes’s amazing ‘Entangled Life’, which expands on the relationship of Trees with Fungi (and other fascinating endosymbiotic relationships,
such as Lichens.).
The latter in particular led me to start using a 2nd printed image from the original Monoprint (the ghost print),
& then printing over these using handcut stencils made of biodegradable polyfilm (around the original outline of the Stump) with translucent White/Creams with Gloss extender.
the ink on the print would then behave/look like the fungal mycelia reaching throughout any given Tree.

Prints can be custom-framed at cost price here in Dartmouth on request.
Smaller prints are flat-packed, while larger works are carefully rolled and shipped in sturdy tubes. Packaging is protective and largely plastic-free.
Signed Certificates of Authenticity are available on request.
Returns are accepted within 28 days if any purchased print is not right for you.
